To be successful, international graduate students and postdocs need to possess a high level of English proficiency to complete a variety of complex academic tasks.   However, the pressures of living in a new country and trying to meet coursework or research demands with constant deadlines can make it difficult to find time to devote to English practice.  Recognizing these complexities, this workshop will provide an overview of resources that can help international graduate students and postdocs improve their English skills for academic purposes, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  Participants will also learn strategies for creating a self-directed English improvement plan.

Presented by Bethany Peterson, ESL Faculty & Staff Liaison and Teaching Specialist, this workshop will take place on January 26 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Minneapolis Armory. More information and registration.
